Happy birthday to us!

We celebrate many things in our business and one of these is always EST10’s birthday. Maybe it’s the excuse to have cake, chocolate strawberries and some light-hearted frivolity, but, as the years go on, despite my child-like joy of birthdays, anniversaries, events, and celebrations, I know it’s more than that.

I’ve come to appreciate how much I still love my job. Running your own business, especially in our current times is tough. If I didn’t love it, felt no purpose or connection, and had no vision, well… who knows?

From the moment I entered the recruitment industry, I knew I had found the right job! I am not lucky, but I am fortunate. Luck implies I had no say in it, but I had every say. I work hard to stay in love with what I do and treat my job and career the same as any other relationship, requiring effort, respect, acceptance, kindness, understanding, awareness, and investment.

I remember thinking, what if I don’t feel the same way one day? The beige, ho-hum of doing a job just for the sake of it is not for me. So, that’s when I made a conscious effort to upskill and continue to grow in every way I could. I listened to my managers, took on feedback, even and especially when it hurt, invested in myself with a coach and further education and completed my MBA.

I am also a trier. It’s one of my secrets. I put a lot of effort into everything I do. If I don’t know how to do something, I give it a go, even if I am carrying some (a lot!) of fear at the same time. I try, learn, and improve.

And I fail. It’s never pleasant, but I am learning to be okay with it. I know it is necessary to keep growing. So, personal and professional development has helped me to stay current and motivated and given me the privilege to appreciate my job, business, and all the opportunities and challenges presented to me.

Based on these reflections, I am delighted to let you know, we have developed a coaching and mentoring program. It is our hope that our program will provide you with the necessary tools, skills, knowledge, and mindset to also love and excel in your chosen profession and job.

Stay tuned for more information very soon!

In the meantime, happy birthday to us! Thank you to all our clients, candidates, and suppliers for helping us have such a special and precious business. Thank you to the wonderful EST10 team, who are so seriously talented and smart! A special mention to Jenny, who is based in the UK for EST10 and has been with us for 12 years, and Rachel, who recently celebrated her 7-year anniversary!
