During the interview process, our client(s) may ask us to conduct a reference check, particularly if they are interested in offering you the position. Making sure you have up-to-date contact details can speed up the process for a potential offer. There’s nothing worse than the frantic last-minute rush to chase down a referee in order to keep things moving and secure your job offer.
3. List your Australian contact details
As soon as you arrive in Australia, it is imperative that you get an Australian phone number and update us with these details as soon as possible. This makes it easier for us to get in contact with you, so you won’t miss out on any opportunities.
4. Put your best foot forward
Studies show that people form an impression in the first 30 seconds of meeting you, so without wanting to sound cliche, you really do need to make your first impression count! Wearing corporate attire when you arrive for your interview is the best start. If you don’t have many corporate clothes or only want to travel with one outfit that’s completely fine (there are plenty of stores you can visit when you arrive) but it’s a good idea to come with one outfit ready for interviews. A nice tailored suit (skirt or trousers) with closed toe heels is always a winner!
5. Honour your commitment
It can be tempting to abandon an interview or assignment when the weather is so nice outside, but we really do need candidates to honour their commitments and commit to the full duration of their assignment. Doing this helps build a sense of trust and reliability, and this is so important given that Sydney is relatively small and you want to build a positive reputation in the market. If something does come up and you have no choice but to end your assignment, then please ensure that you communicate this with us rather than just not turning up to work!
